Yeap, you read the title correctly. Commercially viable jetpacks are now available from Skywalker Jets although I think it will take a bit more investment before any are sold!

So finally we can all act like the next super-hero with a device that will set you back a cool $200,000 (with a nice $100,000 deposit before hand!) Weighing in at a quite reasonable 41kg I think most of us can just about manage it strapped to our backs - after all it’s only when you’re putting it on and “wearing” it and standing waiting to lift off, that you’re going to feel it!

The only thing I think this project needs is serious investment. The device seems to have the power, but according to the inventor it “lacks stability” which I’m sure can be solved by investment into the software. So even though it’s only available in the US (or internationally with the US government’s approval) you too could soon be flying though the skies to the sound of Skywalker Jets’s cheesy website music while your friends look up in awe from below!
