In a recent article on CNet, there are apparently rumours of Skype to be sold off by eBay to Google. But would Google actually want Skype?

On one hand, you have Google Talk - admittedly not the biggest IM client out there, but it does already support VoIP. On the other hand you have an established technology with a large user base. So if you married the two, as Google, you would be able to grow your IM client perhaps to take over the place of Messenger or Yahoo. And then you could just drop some nice ads into the client, maybe even in a chat window? So the upshot is, if Google thinks Skype will fit into their company, I’m sure they’ll snap it up. After all, they couldn’t do a worse job than eBay.
