Voltage looks like a good product, however it does take away the user's control and replaces it with simplicity.

If for instance Voltage went bankrupt, your keys would go with them. Or say their decryption server went down, you would be stuck.

Plus you would need to trust the company implicitly with your private information, as they could potentially decrypt anything you send.

Using GPG, you keep control of everything - the keys, the trust the lot - and it's not difficult to install.

I have a post coming up that details in simple terms how to get up and running with a system you keep control of - oh yeah and it's FREE!

A great way to protect all your emails is through the Voltage Security Network (VSN). It provides easy, quick email encryption that works within your existing email environment. And your recipients need no software to view - or reply to - secure messages. And all you need to know is your recipient's email address in order to send an encrypted message. It's as easy as click and encrypt. Find out more at http://vsn.voltage.com/.

Absolutely rocks in every way. Google has once again proven that it has what is needed to deliver great products. it’s a decent browser…download time may be a dash slower than other browsers but the app load time, smooth rendering, space utilization etc are great.

Jason,

First things first, open up a command prompt (Go to the Start Menu, Run... and type in "cmd" in the box)

Now Type in the command you've put in your batch file and hit return - this will allow you to see any errors that are popping up.

One of the things to watch are the quotes around the paths - if they're not there then the robocopy command won't work as expected.

re: Create A Simple Backup Batch File In Windows

This looks really useful. I tried everything to get this to work, but to no avail. The command line screen pops up for a fraction of a sec and then dissapears (so I can't see if and what the problem might be.

Any idea?

Many thanks

I've tried all the OS's and they all have their strengths & weaknesses - I think you're missing the point of the data.

This is not a "that OS is better than the other OS" sort of deal - This is more of what the average person thinks is worthy of downloading. I leave that to you how to use that information. I think it reflects on how people feel about the OS's, but again you might feel differently about the results.

Anybody care to comment on some of the points raised so far? =)

Stupid and pointless survey...

Of course people dont need to download vista, its installed on all the new computers already, and old ones generally cant manage it... (same goes for different versions of vista, you wouldnt download ultimate if you bought a crappy computer that came with basic because it wouldnt run)

Linux sucks, it doesnt work with hardware, it doesnt run software, it is entirely pointless... there is NOTHING linux has that you cant get on a MAC or PC...

most likely its because no one has any reason to get those torrents from there. Why download xp and all that when you've probably already got it to begin with.

98 Looks like 95, 2000/NT4 etc. Just disable your themes in XP or Vista if you're that nostalgic! =)

I mentioned the searches I did were just the most basic, to get the first torrent on the list. For instance, if you search for Ubuntu, there are two - the desktop one, and the full one (I presume with the server version included etc.)

I think what I'm trying to say is that I tried to make it as if the average Joe was doing a search for an OS, found it on isohunt, and just hit the download torrent button on the first thing he/she found.

But I agree about 98. If it supported today's games/apps/CPUs/memory configs I would still use it today.

Did you accumulate all torrents distributing the software, as i am thinking that their is many different torrents running - might produce an overall different result. The Ubuntu score is kind of invalid, as it is free, and the website links a torrent as a legitimate download method.

Whats more interesting is the older versions of the OS's, shows some people are either still using it - gasp, or people are poking around with it for fun. Would be interesting to reinstall 98 again, i used to know it off by heart, now i cannot remember what it even looks like.
