If for instance Voltage went bankrupt, your keys would go with them. Or say their decryption server went down, you would be stuck. Plus you would need to trust the company implicitly with your private information, as they could potentially decrypt anything you send. Using GPG, you keep control of everything - the keys, the trust the lot - and it's not difficult to install. I have a post coming up that details in simple terms how to get up and running with a system you keep control of - oh yeah and it's FREE!
